Behind the Scenes: Zoe Peplow’s Fabulous Shoot

Back in April Zoe Peplow a member of Illamasqua’s Art Team worked with Fabulous Magazine on a shoot created using our new collection ‘Hypnotica’, we have a chat with her about it went…

What was your inspiration behind the looks created at the shoot?

When creating colour based looks I think the key to keeping them wearable and on trend is to mix up key makeup trends from previous eras and but adapt them by using different colours to add a modern day spin on a classic. A coloured liner is a great example of this, just by switching up the colour to a bright hue instantly creates a different feel to the makeup, yet it still feels familiar and comfortable to wear, little tweaks like this really update a look and creates a look that feels timeless.

What is your favourite part of the process of creating looks for a shoot?

I love the process of building upon makeup looks to create different feels and styles to every shot. Working in front of the camera to add colour and coverage between shooting I find always ensures a killer final image. It’s always interesting to see the way an image changes over the course of shooting. Over the process of crafting a look your original design alters as you work with the products. I love creating a final shot that is a mixture of forward planning and gut creative feeling on the day.

What was your favourite look created at the shoot?

On the day my favourite look had to be the blue liner with 90’s style brown lip. It looked so on trend, yet totally different to what people have been wearing recently because the colours really popped against (the model) Katie’s tan skin. Having said that, the final image with the matte orange lip has translated so well on camera, especially with the purple glitter which cleverly puts a spin on the freckle trend. It’s so quick and easy for this summer’s festival go-ers. Team it with an opposing colour on the lip and its sure to stand out against the crowds.Which product from our new Hypnotica Collection is your favourite to use?

In my every day makeup bag I could not live without [mwi-product sku=”03610″ type=”add” ], it’s my go to at the minute for creating definition to the lips and adding sun kissed freckles to the skin.

For a more colourful, playful look, Sketch Stick in Free is a great addition to our product range! Sketch Sticks are brightly pigmented multi-purpose crayons – I can’t get enough of them!  They can be blended together on your lids to create an ombre eye effect or used on cheeks as a bold blusher.

Our new Hypnotica Collection launches in the UK nationwide 2nd June
