In October 2012, 16 finalists battled it out to become the winner of their category in The Distinction In Make-up Artistry Awards. Anastasjia Bondarenko was Illamasqua’s non-professional winner and won a 5 day course at The School of Make-up Art, London. 8 months on from the competition and Anastasjia is now working at Illamasqua’s flagship store as one of the make-up artists. I went and caught up with her to see how she was getting on at the store and what she has been up to since the competition…
How did it feel to win the competition?
What have you been up to since the competition?
Straight after the competition a lot more people wanted to work with me, so I’ve been busy doing some fun make up, perfecting my skills and building my portfolio 🙂 Also recently one of my dreams came true and I got a job with Illamasqua, so now I am a part of Illamasqua Flagship store team.
What would be your advice for anyone entering the competition this year?
My words of advise would be: don’t be afraid! Just go for it and have fun!
Why did you apply for the competition?
What did you enjoy most about the live competition?
Every single second of it was amazing! Just the full experience was magical! I was amazed how organised everything was, and how smooth it went on. It was thrilling for me to see Alex Box and Pixiwoo sisters as they are one of my biggest inspirations! Overall I would say that the live competition was quite a life changing experience for me, now I know that there’s definitely a way out and you should never give up 🙂
What was it like on the 5 day course at The School of Make-up Art?
As a part of my prize I received a 5 Day course at Illamasqua School of Make Up Art which was absolutely amazing! Very informative, it helped me fill in the gaps, taught me a lot of new techniques and overall I just had an amazing time there!
