First off, over in Ibiza WGSN spotted the 90’s throwback going strong (shown here).

The fashion industry of course drove the 90’s revival craze – the era was everywhere on the Spring/Summer 2013 catwalks. Leading designers including Rag & Bone, DKNY, Vivienne Westwood, Alexander Wang, Ralph Lauren and Victoria Beckham showed a strong influence from the 90’s in their work back in the Spring fashion weeks also. With the designers pulling out their old tricks: we saw tartans, low slung hips, plenty of tie-dye, pops of colour and most definitely denim. All matched with the typical retro hair blow outs and grunge inspired make-up.

How could we have forgotten!?

So it is true, what goes around does come right back around!

Here at Illamasqua we especially have noticed the ‘90s craze affecting areas of the beauty industry. To help you tap into the retro beauty trend, heres a few TIPS and TRICKs from the super-chic and minimal ‘90s craze:

Matte, nude and purple lips:

The ‘90s brought us lots of neutral lip colouring including browns; think back to Rachel from Friends – paired with her short-layered hair and perfectly matte skin… What was it? Her subtle brown lipstick.

Not to be overlooked, the revisited brown lip doesnt have to be dull! Wear a beautiful deep shade, or a rusty coloured complexion for a real air of sophistication. Although its key you find the right colour for you; if darker shades don’t suit your complexion, try a slightly lighter hue – the ‘90s trend is here to stay for a while!

Revisiting the royal purple lip also seems to have made a classic comeback… Make a bold statement with a deep, rich purple added to your everyday style for an ultimate ’90s edge.

Our 90’s product recommendations:

Lipstick in Growl : our favourite deep purple pick!

Lipstick in Howl : no need to look further, the most appealing rusty redy brown

Create a subtle ’90s smokey eye with our Neutral Palette

And try not to recreate the ’90s overdone brown lip liner look!

Glossy blow dry or bedhead updos:

Whether you prefer the healthy looking, blow dry perfection or a casual beachy style finger-combed up-do, work your look in true ’90s style! If you want to go all out… you can always chuck your hair up in a stereotypical bright coloured hair scrunchie or space bun duo for true ‘90s kid style!
