Street Style: Dalston! 22nd October 2014

We hit the streets of Dalston for this week’s instalment of Street Style; we wanted to see what the area had to offer when it came to fashion and makeup.

In the heart of the local community lies a range of one-off shops and a busy market selling a ton of goods. Amongst the hustle and bustle, you’re to find something unique. Skip forward a few hours and the area offers a buzzing nightlife with a selection of bars, pubs and clubs.

On the high street we found Libby who revealed she loves a BB cream. If you are a fan of BB cream’s too you might want to try our Skin Base Foundation as it was inspired by Asian market Beauty Balm creams; it can give a natural or buildable coverage. If, like Libby, neutral tones are your thing then our Nude Lipstick Shade Selector will assist you in finding the perfect tone for you.

Discussing Winter style, Libby said her staple wardrobe item is a long coat like the one she was rocking when we met her. In terms of trends for the chillier season, she’s loving roll necks.

We then got chatting to Kaja next who thinks that “makeup makes you more beautiful” and her go-to product is a Lipstick. In terms of colour she favours any shade of red.

When we met her, Kaja had gone for an orange shade of red that added a great pop of colour to her monochrome ensemble. To recreate, we think you should try Lipstick in Liable; it’s highly pigmented with a matt finish that will last all day. To complement this colour choice, use our Bronzing Duo for an all-year-round glow.

Kaja thinks there should be more moisturising products on the market as she feels that makeup can too often look dry. If you feel like a moisturing product is what’s missing from your makeup bag then we recommend Hydra Veil. It’s a gel like formula that hydrates the skin and keeps moisture locked in; you can use it on it’s own or as a base for your makeup.

We found Jahniah by Dalston Junction and admired her cute jumper and skirt pairing – great for transitioning into the Winter months if you’re not ready to say goodbye to your favourite Summer skirt just yet.

Jahniah described her style as “outlandish” and “funky and says she takes inspiration from Anime. Jahniah prefers to keep her look natural when it comes to makeup. You too? Well add a brush of Cream blusher in and a thin layering of Masquara and you’ll be good to go!IMG_2837

Beth’s red lip and flicked liner look caught our eye. A classic and effective look that will never go out of style, Lipstick in Maneater and Precision Ink in Abyss are perfect for recreating it. Beth told us she’s on the hunt for the perfect primer; we’d recommend the aforementioned Hydra Veil for a moisturising primer or Matte Veil primer for a shine-free finish.

In terms of her outfit, we loved the combination of Beth’s beige, tailored coat with her snakeskin-print bag.Beth is a stylist so is constantly drawing inspiration from the celebrities she works with. To sum up her style she used the term “casual chic” and told us that she likes a simple look.

So what did you think of Dalston? Were you loving the outfits and have you gained some new ideas for your makeup? Let us know in the comments! Next week we’ll be taking a trip to Brixton so if you live/work in the area keep an eye out for us!
