Samantha’s Mid-Week Inspiration: Christmas Collection Nails

Today I’m back with another nail art to give you some mid-week inspiration! This week I was inspired by our new Christmas collection imagery and therefore I created this art deco style black and gold nail art. As always I have put together a step-by-step tutorial to show you exactly how I created the look and therefore how you could create a similar look yourself!

What Will You Need?

In order to create this nail art yourself you will need just three Illamasqua Nail Varnishes! These are Swinger (gold), Boosh (black) and a Top Coat. You will also need some nail art striping tape, however if you do not have this you could alternatively cut any tape you have into thin strips.

Step-by-Step Tutorial:

Step 1: Paint all nails in two coats of Swinger to give your nails an opaque gold base which will help create the art deco patterns.

Step 2: Take your striping tape and place pieces onto the nail in the pattern you wish to create on the nail. I chose to create a different pattern on each nail, however if you wish you could place the tape in the same way on each nail to create identical patterns on each.

Step 3: Paint Boosh over all nails, covering both the gold base and the striping tape.

Step 4: Once the black coats are completely dry peel off the striping tape. You should then be left with your gold patterns showing through on the nails. The next step is to then take the Top Coat and paint a layer onto each nail. This will seal the nail art into place and give your nails a shine!

I hope you have enjoyed this nail art and are loving our new Christmas collection. If you recreate this look yourself as always share a photo through #Illamasqua on Instagram, @Illamasqua on Twitter or post a photo on our Facebook Wall. A HUGE thank you to the lovely girls who recreated my poppy nails and shared a photo on Instagram with us, we loved seeing them!

Happy Nail Art-ing! Sam x
