This week we have been feeling summer slipping away from us so to get me in the mood for Autumn I thought I would do an Autumn leaves nail art design! As always I will do a step-by-step guide on how to achieve the nail art below, so if you want to find out how to achieve the look yourself keep reading!
What will you need?
The first step to this nail art is painting the base colour. I chose to paint all my nails in the colour Milf. I painted on 2 coats of Milf to ensure that the base was opaque in order to make all the other colours stand out on top.
The next step is sponging on Optimist, Gamma and Swinger. First I sponged Optimist over the majority of the nail. Next I sponged Gamma and Swinger on in small patches over Gamma to add some variation to the tree colouring. When sponging dont worry about getting it around the edge of the nail as this can be removed after the nail art is complete.
The next step to the nail art is adding the tree branches. I used Taint nail varnish for this and applied it using the dotting tool. Generally I added two large branches and then 3 smaller branches on the top of these.
Using Throb and the dotting tool again I dotted small red spots around the top of the branch area.
The final step of this nail art is painting Top Coat over the top of all the nails. This wil prevent any chipping and even out the nail.
And that’s the nail art complete! If you got any nail varnish around the edge of the nail take a cotton bud with some nail varnish remover and run this around the nail to neaten them up.
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. As always I would love to see photos of any of you who have recreated these nails, or if any of you have created nail art using our nail varnishes. So please share them with us through #Illamasqua on Instagram, @Illamasqua on Twitter or post them on our Facebook wall.
Until next time, Samantha x
