Red carpet colour special

The infamous red carpet has had a very busy week, with A listers walking all over it at the Grammy’s and BAFTA’s. Here at Illamasqua, we’ve never been afraid of using bold colours to express ourselves and we were delighted to see such strong splashes of colour throughout the styling.

Beyonce was looking simply stylish in a beautiful monochrome 2 piece by Osman Studio, low pony tail and a striking red lip. Less was definitely more with this look and the powerful red pout completed the look perfectly. You can never go wrong with a classic red lip, it feels empowering to wear and is so classically eye catching.

My favourite red lip is a combo of Medium Pencil in Spell and Lipstick in Liable. I apply the pencil carefully around the lip line to give definition, then fill in all over my lips to create the perfect base which will anchor my lipstick and give it more longevity.

Rihanna stood out in a beautiful floor length, custom made red gown by Azzedine Alaia with matching bright red nails. You’d think all the red would make her fade into the carpet, but Rihanna stood out amongst the crowd that night.

I love a splash of bright red across my nails and often wear Nail Varnish in Alarm for a flame red glossy manicure.

Beyonce’s quirky sister, Solange Knowles, rocked up in a floor length green gown by Ralph and Russo, with a thigh high split and contrasting orange heels.

Green is the colour to be seen in for 2013 and Pantone made emerald their colour of the year. Illamasqua have been pushing the green make-up boundaries since last year with Lipstick in Apocalips from our Human Fundamentalism collection and we’re now seeing a lot of love for our Intense Lipgloss in Shoot from our NEW I’mperfection collection. I can’t wait to spot the green pouts around the world!

Helen Mirren graced the BAFTA’s red carpet confidently showing off her new pink hair, still looking graceful as ever with a matching pink lip. Mirren is proof that beauty most definitely goes before age and we at Illamasqua HQ are loving the new do.

For a flash of pink, our NEW Lipstick in Immodest is a vivid shade and instantly brightens up a dull Winter day.

We’re also loving the bright coloured dresses on the BAFTA red carpet which totally over shadowed the dark, grey, drizzly night in London! Metallic blue, bright yellow and fresh coral made an appearance.

Liquid Metal in Superior is a luxurious sapphire shade with a metallic cream finish and can be used all over your face and body. Our Liquid Metals are a perfect alternative to the traditional smoky eye, give it a different Illamasqua edge.

Rubber Bright Nail Varnish in Optimist from our new limited edition Rubber Brights collection will give your manicure a warm yellow pop of colour and a rubber matt finish.

Coral shades are great for a warm, natural glow. Powder Blusher Duo in Lover and Hussy from our NEW I’mperfection collection has both a warm apricot and a candy pink shade giving you two options in one beautiful glossy compact.
