My year working in Illamasqua’s press department…

I am studying Public Relations at Bournemouth University, and part of my course is a years placement. This means that in your 3rd year of university you work for a company in a department relevant to your course.

I have always loved make-up, fragrance and skin care, so I knew that when I was set the task of finding a years placement I ideally wanted to work within the beauty industry. When I saw an advertisement for an Illamasqua internship I was delighted, and applied straight away. I got offered the job and a year later I am a week away from finishing my internship. I cannot believe how quick this year has gone and how much I have experienced and learnt.

I wanted to write a news piece to highlight some of the most memorable moments I have had working for Illamasqua…

Freak Press Launch – within my first couple of weeks of joining Illamasqua I got to help with the Freak fragrance press launch. Below is an image of the dressed cave where the press got to have one on one appointments with the people behind the making of the fragrance, Joseph Corre, Alex Box and Azzi Glasser.

A Child of the Jago A/W12 Fashion Show – At the show I  met Whitney Port, Kelly Cutrone and Vivienne Westwood. Whitney Port is one of my favourite reality show stars, and so I was over the moon that I got to meet her!

Freak Party – A party held over the Halloween weekend to celebrate the launch of Illamasqua’s debut fragrance. The PR team took the Halloween theme to the extreme!

Glamour of the Gods – An event held at the National Portrait Gallery where the Illamasqua Make-up artists had great fun recreating glamorous looks on members of the public.

Vitamin Water I-create Launch Party – The PR team were lucky enough to be invited to Vitamin Waters launch of their newest drink, the highlight of the evening was the private performance from Jessie J.

Body Confidence Awards –  A few people from Illamasqua got invited to the Body Confidence Awards at the Houses of Parliament as Illamasqua was nominated for the beauty award. Although we didn’t win the award, it was great that we were recognised for promoting body confidence and it was such a novelty to go to an event at the House of Commons.

Above is just some of the amazing opportunities I have had with Illamasqua and I am going back to University in September with a wealth of knowledge and a better understanding of public relations. I want to say a huge thank you to the Illamasqua team for making me feel so welcome and for such a great year!
