Meet The Team!
This month we spoke to Illamasqua Regional Manager, Laura. We wanted to get some inside info on her role as manager as well as asking her about all things Illamasqua of course!
Can you sum up your role?
I look after the UK stores and counters. I like to be really involved in all aspects of the day to day needs of the business. I offer support, training and guidance to all the retail staff, alongside liaising with head office to ensure everyone is on the same page.
How long have you been at Illamasqua?
I have been with the brand for 3 years!! I started out as the store manager for our free standing Leeds store and in early 2014 was promoted to my regional role.
What is a typical day in the office/store like for you?
I don’t have an office (unless you count whichever train I’m on!) as I’m out and about every day, which I love. So each day is in a different city, and each day can bring something new. When I’m in stores I catch up with my teams and ensure they have all the tools they need to showcase how amazing our products are!
Name something you worked on that you’re particularly proud of
Its hard to pin point one thing, as there have been so many areas I have been so involved with in the last year. I’m incredibly proud of having the opportunity to do my job and to see my results payoff is an amazing feeling. That and progressing internally within the company to my current role.
What do you love most about working at Illamasqua?
I’ve always been a huge fan of the brand, and couldn’t wait to join Illamasqua. Its like been part of a big family, that happens to sell the most amazing make up!!
What tips do you have for anyone wanting to break into the same job role?
I’m a great believer in hard work! I started out in the cosmetics industry about 6 years ago, and always knew I wanted to be doing the role I am today. There is no better feeling than looking back to where I stared to where I am today. How you present yourself in any job role is really important and you want to get noticed as that person that can make a difference.
If you could swap roles with someone else in the company for a day who would it be and why?
I would love to swap with our Australian Country manager Mikele (the sunshine helps!) The teams out there are great, and it would be amazing to see what they do out there and bring that over to the UK.
What is your favourite Illamasqua product?
This is such a hard question as there is so many!! I’d say my top 3 are –
Skin Base Foundation – I wore this on my wedding day and still by the end of the night my make-up was flawless. And I got married in a hot country.
Lipsticks – Eurydice is my all-time favourite colour we have done. Every time I wear it I get asked what it is, and is stays on all day! (this is me wearing it, with my beautiful Niece Sara)
I could talk all day about so many other products I love!
Do you have any makeup tips for us?
Invest in good brushes!!! This is the start to creating beautiful make up and makes such a difference to the payoff you get. Good brushes may cost more but they will last you twice as long.
Thanks to Laura for answering our questions, we hope you found them as interesting to read as we did!
