London Fashion Week: Backstage at Richard Malone

Final show of the season for us and Richard Malone didn’t disappoint! Mainly focusing on evening wear paired with stand out boots and heels, he dedicated his collection to his late grandmother which you could see throughout the collection with little doodles and hand written notes printed on the garments.

The make up paired with the strong silhouettes and metal details matching the doodles on the clothes as necklaces, earrings and hair pieces in the long plaits. The make up was soft, not polished – powdery white eyes, raw skin and stained blood lips.

‘The Richard Malone look had a very porcelain finish, we didn’t use any foundation or concealer unless it is necessary so you can see the freckles and the rosiness in the cheeks. We applied Translucent Powder with a powder puff to mattify the whole face. On the lashes the idea was to have that powdery look too so for that we used a white Eye Shadow called Sex which is a matte white. We added some extra Eye Shadow on the lashes to make it look extra powdery and the same all around the eyes. For the lips we used Loaded Lip Polish in Spice which was applied like a stain, gently pressing it to get a bit of colour and a little bit on the outside of their top lip to create the shape.’

The strong, fast walk the models conducted down the catwalk amongst the silhouettes and the contrast in the make up to metal detailing, it was clear Richard Malone had a message. The diverse mix of models, along with the make up and the elegantly-constructed garments that are simultaneously sculptural and easy to wear – he has us obsessed with this collection!

That’s all from us, we hope you have enjoyed reading the insights into our Fashion Week looks and the shows. Make sure you check out our Instagram highlights for any backstage business you may of missed. Roll on next season!
