Kat Von D – Get The Look

Everyday we’re overwhelmed by the strong following we have on Twitter, from make-up fans and aspiring make-up artists, to bloggers, press and celebs. One that caught my eye last week was Kat Von D tweeting “I LOVE @Illamasqua“. For those of you who watch Miami Ink and LA Ink, you will know how effortlessly cool Kat looks, cruising down Santa Monica Boulevard in her vintage, gold, 1950’s custom Chevrolet Deluxe covered in body art with beautiful make-up and her signature red lip. After further conversations with Kat herself, she revealed “I love the back story of Illamasqua. Talented and creative people joining forces to make something so beautiful.”

We at Illamasqua HQ love Kat’s twist on the classic rockabilly style. Here’s how to recreate the look…

Take Powder Eye Shadow in Obsidian [available to buy on it’s own or as part of the Neutral palette]and mix with a drop of Sealing Gel. Using Illamasqua Eye Brow Brush, comb through brows creating a beautiful high arc, giving you a smudge proof, waterproof brow that will last all day and night.

Using Powder Eye Shadow in Vintage from the Human Fundamentalism Neutral Palette, press with Illamasqua Eye Shadow Brush into the socket. Then add a touch of Powder Eye Shadow in Bronx above the socket and blend using Illamasqua Blending Brush 1. Apply a touch of Liquid Metal in Electrum on the inner corners of the eye to recreate Kat’s subtle golden glow.

Get ready for a BIG 1950’s flick – Precision Ink in Abyss is perfect for a dramatic liquid line. It’s waterproof formula means only eye make-up remover will take it off. From the inner corner of the eye, follow the brush along the lash line to the outer edge of the eye. Then, angle the brush towards the end of your eye brows and continue the flick for approx 1cm. Add a few more layers of liner for a thicker line. Then with an Illamasqua Angled Eye Liner Brush, dab Powder Eye Shadow in Obsidian underneath your lower lashes to create a smoky effect. Finish with lashings of Masquara in Raven.

To recreate Kat’s flawless complexion, use a small amount of Skin Base Foundation in your chosen shade and apply using Illamasqua Highlighter Brush. Using the Highlighter Brush allows you to buff the foundation into the skin, leaving no marks or brush strokes. It’s a perfect size to buff around the nose and eye sockets too. Sweep Powder Blusher in Ambition from the apples of the cheeks, up the cheekbones to give definition to the face.

And finally, line the lips with Medium Pencil in Spell and apply Lipstick in Ignite for a bright red pout.
