As part of my internship with Illamasqua I am taking the three day artistry training course with Key Artist and National Trainer Ross Andrewartha. I am joined by other new members of staff or artists who will soon be working at an Illamasqua counter very soon. Throughout the training we will be learning about the history of the brand, developing and enhancing our product knowledge and practising our technique with top tips from the creatives at Illamasqua.
I really enjoyed looking over films from previous collections to see how Illamasqua has grown as a brand and interestingly we all had different views on our favourite collection. My favourite collection to date is the Theatre of the Nameless collection as I love the deep tones and the rich story behind the collection. You can view our previous campaigns by clicking here.
After learning about the ingredients, quality and versatility of the different products, it was our turn to try out some make-up on each other. Our task was to create a base and educate the other person depending on their skin type, e.g. If someone has oily skin, apply Matt Primer before foundation to mattify the skin, using a primer will also make the foundation more long lasting.
I also learnt to look at each product with a broad mind and be aware that product can be used for many other things that what it is labelled as, for example, any Illamasqua powder product can be used wet as well as dry to create a liquid line or lip colour. You can also mix our Intense Lipgloss in Absorb (biscuit nude) with any powder to create a new shade of lipgloss, why not give it a go?
I’ll be back in training tomorrow and Thursday learning more about Illamasqua and I will be sharing it all with you…
