Illamasqua Interviews: Joseph Corrė

Name: Joseph Corrė

Occupation: Brand Director, Illamasqua

A brief overview of who they are/what they do/ achievements etc…

I managed affairs at Vivienne Westwood for 9 years and was Founder and Creative Director at Agent Provocateur for over 16 years.

1. Your Current Life: What are you up to at the moment? What are your future plans?

Illamasqua. Due to the increased speed in which Illamasqua has had to grow, which is a symptom of the industry we are in I have been spending a lot of time looking back through the business on the store side. Looking at all our systems, how our teams are formed, how we inspire our staff and how we give great service and create theater and an experience on counter.  This is very exciting for me. I like shops, the contact with the public and selling a product that is better than anyone elses. I like retail and I’m good at it.

2. Your Favorite Image?

I am a very visual and aesthetic person.

Graphics and feelings are very important to me. I get very involved and enjoy being at Illamasqua campaign shoots.

Isambard Kingdom Brunel. A brilliant engineer who changed the world.

3. Favorite Illamasqua campaign image:

It’s from our new AW12 campaign, Generation Q the shot of Evelyn, I love it.

4. Your Personal Self: What are you most proud of? What has been your most significant achievement to date?

The opportunity given to me on a silver plate to kick Tony Blair up the *rse and refuse an MBE offered to me on moral ground. I ceased the opportunity to be someone able to say I think what many other people would have liked to have said.

5. Your Alter Ego: If you could be any fictional character, who would it be and why?

Chief Sitting Bull from the Sioux Nation

6. Red Lipstick: What does red lipstick symbolize for you?

Sex. Red lipstick is powerful, confident, makes a statement. There is something sexy about that.
