Illamasqua Key Artist Mika Johnson takes us through the process of creating a beautiful flawless face with statement brows and a bold lip.
“The focus of this look was the eyebrows and lips, I wanted to create a more statement brow which complimented Megan’s beautiful, curly, free-spirited hairstyle.”
Prepare the skin with Matt Primer using a Foundation Brush. Here, Skin Base no 6 was used as it is a pale, neutral shade which perfectly matches the model’s skin tone. This was applied using Highlighter Brush in circular buffing motions.
Since the focus is elsewhere, opt for a more subtle shade for the cheeks. Here Powder Blusher in Naked Rose was lightly applied using Blusher Brush 1. For a touch of glow try a sheer wash of Pure Pigment in Furore over cheekbone using Blending Brush 1.
A dramatic lip shade against a fair complexion shouts confidence. Using Medium Pencil in Torment accentuate the cupids bow and define the lip line. Then with Lip Brush apply Lipstick in Box. Box is a blue-toned red which stands out against the skin.
Define the lash line with Medium Pencil in Honour and blend out using an Eyeshadow Brush. Diffuse out with Powder Eyeshadow in Wolf using Blending Brush 1 for a soft smoky effect and apply Masquara in Raven for added depth.
To open up the eyes try using Medium Pencil in Vow inside the waterline – this is a natural cream shade which freshens up the eyes without looking chalky.
Firstly take a disposable mascara wand and brush the brows upwards rather than laying them flat. For this look the brows are slightly more wild! Use a small amount of Eyebrow Cake in Gaze with an Angled Brush to define the lower line of the brow, and brush this colour up into the brow softly. The idea is to create a tapered effect rather than a solid block brow. When complete set brows in place using Brow and Lash Gel.”
