Get The Look: Key Artist Mika Johnson

Illamasqua’s Key Artist, Mika Johnson, shows us how to create this gorgeous look using Illamasqua products.

Prep skin using Hydra Veil in order to instantly moisturise and create a smooth base for foundation. Then taking the Skin Base which suits you apply with a Highlighter Brush in circular buffing motions.

As the eyes and lips for this look are fairly strong opt for a softer cheek.

The Paranormal Palette can also be used on the cheeks, so try a soft wash of warm copper Eyeshadow in Aura using a Highlighter Brush. Highlight the cheek bones with a hint of Gleam in Supernatural.

Firstly comb through brows using a clean disposable mascara wand, brushing upwards in the centre for an untamed effect. Medium Pencil in Vow works fantastically as a highlighter for darker skin tones, apply underneath the brow for a natural lift. Then using Eyebrow Cake in Gaze with an Angled Brush define the lower line of the brows. Next brush from the lower line upwards into the rest of the brow for a natural, graduated effect. Finish with Brow and Lash Gel to help keep brows in place all day.

This dramatic eye was created using just a few shades.

Using a Blending Brush 1 take some of violet Eye Shadow in Trance from the Paranormal Palette and blend from the inner corner of the eye out to the edge of the brow. The Paranormal Palette shades are sheer but with a shimmer – dare to take them higher than usual. Highlight the lash line with Medium Pencil in Vow for a twist on a usual eyeliner. For the lower lash line use Precision Gel Liner with a Retractable Liner Brush and wing it out as far as you want. Finish with Masquara in Raven.

Using a Retractable Lip Brush define the lip line using violet Lipstick in ESP. Highlight the centre of the lips with a lighter shade, this time Lipstick in Posture. Apply Sheer Lipgloss in Boost for an iridescent punch to this already dramatic lip look.
