The Illamafia

Farewell to Steph in Product Development

Today we say goodbye to our Stephanie who has been with us for 3 years. We wanted to take this opportunity to ask her about her time working with us Illamasqua and about the products! We hope this inspires you to work for a company like us and shows you a little insight into the backstage of our work…

1. Please can you tell us what your role at Illamasqua started as and how you got to where you are now at Illamasqua?

I got to really know about Illamasqua when I studied makeup and London College of Fashion and Illamasqua was known for theatre makeup so I instantly became a fan.  I was lucky to get a contact at HQ, so from that I started interning within customer service and retail, which gave me all round experience.  A few years later in that department, I assisted David Horne in Product Development.  David is so well known and respected in the makeup industry, so to be trained and mentored by him was incredible.  Now I am one of the Product Executives here and my responsibilities are creating new and innovative products.

2. What was the best thing about working for Illamasqua?

There are no limits to what we can create here at Illamasqua, I love that you are free to be creative.

3. What was the best/most exciting day you had whilst working here?

Most exciting time has to be when David Horne asked me to assist him in the Product Development.  Ultimate dream job!

4. If you were to work in another department that you haven’t worked in yet, which would it be and why?

Perhaps it would be in the Visual Merchandising department.  We have always been lucky enough to see things in the beginning stages and mannequins being painted.  I would have loved to be part of that process and to know that my work would have travelled to international stores.

5. What is your fave illamasqua product and why?

I have so many favourite products but, my ultimate product is Precision Gel Liner.  I do an eyeliner flick every day and I love that it applies and sets matte.  It is your blackest liner and glides on beautifully.

6. What will you take from Illamasqua when you leave (apart from some lovely products :P)?

I am perusing Hair and Makeup and most of my experiences have come from all the events that I have been part of over the past few years.

7. What are your plans now that you are leaving Illamasqua?

I am now off to pursue my career in hair and makeup.  it is where my heart is and gives me the chance to travel and explore plus doing something I have a passion for.

Thank you Steph for answering those questions and best of luck for a prosperous future from all of us at Illamasqua!
