My time at Illamasqua…
Similarly to Chloe who left last week (read her post here), I have spent the last 10 months interning within the communications team at Illamasqua HQ, splitting my time between PR and Social Media. Having little experience in either role before (and not really knowing what I want to do when I graduate) I decided to try something new during my placement year from Uni studying Event and Leisure Marketing.
For anyone wanting to gain hands on experience within the beauty industry this is a great opportunity where you have the chance to learn a lot within a short period. Working as part of this closely knit office I have had the chance to gain valuable experience that will benefit me not only on my return to uni in September but hopefully also in my future career.
What I’ve been up to:
Chloe and myself had the opportunity to attend the Night-time Diva course at the School of Make Up Art. Not only have I had my make-up done countless times by the amazing team, I also had the opportunity to pick up some skills myself!
We attended Glass Magazine’s LFW party (before ending up in McDonalds… other fast food chains are available)
My first introduction to the team involved being hit in the face with a tennis ball during a competitive game of rounders and leaving with a huge bruise on my leg, all whilst dressed as a 118 character. (Annual Illamasqua sports day!).
I was involved in a number of events including the To Be Alive press day, showcasing the new and very blue collection.
Having daily LOL’s with Heidi, the Social Media Executive. Thank you for making this such an enjoyable experience, I’ve loved working with you during my time with the company!
A massive THANK YOU to the incredible comms team I had the chance to work with, Nicola (Head of Communications at the time), Heidi and Sarah (PR Executive) have made this a truly enjoyable experience and taught me so much along the way!
And finally, Chloe… also from Bournemouth Uni (although had never met), this experience wouldn’t have been the same without you!
Good luck to Lucy, the new Communications Intern! I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
