The Illamafia

Meet the team: Emily

Manager for Illamasqua Birmingham

Today we sit down with the Illamasqua Birmingham Business Manager, Emily.
She has been with us here at Illamasqua for three months now and we think it’s time you got to know her too!

Illamasqua Emily

Hi Emily! You are a fairly new addition to the #illamafia – What attracted you to the brand?

I fell in love with Illamasqua back in 2009 when I was at uni studying Specialist Make up. I felt so inspired by this alternative make up brand and lived for the days when the Art Team would visit uni to do masterclasses. Since then I have enjoyed watching Illamasqua evolve and put their own stamp on the beauty industry. We are a brand that offers quality, creativity, inspiration and individuality and that’s what I love about Illamasqua.

Can you tell us what a typical day looks like for you at Illamasqua?

At Illamasqua each day is different from the next! As a Business Manager I of course have the daily tasks of figure reporting, setting targets and monitoring our stock file. However I also love the selling side of my job and educating my clients on the wonderful world of Illamasqua through creativity. We have such a talented team of artists in Birmingham and I love admiring their incredible transformations and working closely with them to plan exciting events.

What is the best thing about working for Illamasqua?

The people! I feel so lucky to work with such talented individuals. Whether it be my team in Birmingham, head office or our wonderful Art Team, everyone is so inspiring and I continue to learn something new every day.

What do you enjoy doing when you haven’t got your business manager’s head on?

I love to travel. Whether it be planning a big trip to Australia or simply visiting a new city in Great Britain, I enjoy exploring different places around the world. And although I do love to exercise too, sometimes after a manic Saturday at work, you can’t beat putting your feet up with a hot chocolate and the Desperate Housewives boxset!

We couldn’t agree more! What is your hero product and why?

This is a tough one but I feel the one product that is a hidden gem at Illamaqua is Sealing Gel. Use it with eyeshadows, use it with brow cake, use it with pigments, it’s such a genius little product and I love telling customers about it, it’s like sharing a little secret with them.

And finally, a fun one! If you had the chance to invent a new product what would it be and why?

I think I’d invent a range of liquid highlighters. Customers seem to be forever searching for “that glow” to their skin so a liquid highlighter that you could mix with foundation or layer it over the top would be an answer to all their prayers. Imagine adding a drop of liquid furore into your Skin Base Foundation! Oooohh aaahh!
