In December Top Beauty Blogger Doniya Malik visited Illamasqua Bradford with Make-Up Artist Zully Reem
On the 17th of December Illamasqua in Debenhams Bradford was treated to a
very special guest – blogger Doniya Malik.
With Doniya as his model make – up artist Zully Reem created a
look Doniya had chosen that combined a beautiful brown smoky eye and
nude lip for a style that was simple yet elegant.
Zully took us through the process step-by-step to show how to build a look from
the base to the lashes.
The tutorial was full of tips and tricks, our personal favourite was Zully’s tip
to ‘always blend, blend and blend some more.’
When the tutorial had finished Doniya met with fans and took selfies with
our lovely counter staff, it was a pleasure having Doniya and Zully with us.
After the event we had a little chat with both of them about what their
inspiration behind the look was and their thoughts on the event:
Can I ask which product used during the tutorial was your favourite?
My favourite product used during the tutorial has to be the [mwi-product sku=”03453″ type=”add”],
I love to contour and this product was just great to contour with.
What was your reason for choosing the look used for the tutorial?
The reason I chose this look is because it’s my favourite look and really compliments
my features. I love the smoky brown eye as I find it’s simple but yet so
glamorous and iseasy to create. You can either wear it as a subtle yet glamorous
every day look or you can enhance it a little more and turn it into an evening look.
Sometimes I even add a pop of colour to it by applying a nice blue, green or purple
eyeshadow along the lash line. It’s a very versatile look and goes with pretty
much any outfit and works for any occasion.
What was the first product you ever used from Illamasqua?
The first product I ever used from the Illamasqua was the [mwi-product sku=”03180″ type=”add”],
and I loved it, even now it’s still one of my favourite Illamasqua products.
I find it gives great coverage but still feels so light on my face.
What inspired you to start blogging about beauty?
I have always been quite creative and from a young age I loved to draw and design.
As I grew up I got interested in make-up and started testing and trying out different
looks and techniques on myself. I also love doing my little sister Waliyha’s and
my cousin’s make-up. I see make-up as a form of art and every time you craft a
different look you’re constructing something creative. Playing with make-up is
just something I love to do. Also my followers on social media were always asking me
what my techniques were and what specific products I was using so
I thought I’d combine my love of make-up and interest in
exploring techniques and start a blog.
Can I ask what your inspiration was behind creating this look?
My inspiration came from the Kardashian’s look at the Grammy Awards,
they had such flawless skin and dramatic eyes and were so elegant.
I also loved that they added a Bollywood feel with eye-liner used to create a
slight cat’s eye, I love a look that makes the eyes pop but yet has a soft feel to it.
What is your favourite Illamasqua product?
My favourite product has to be the [mwi-product sku=”03266″ type=”add”],
The texture is amazing, it’s nice and creamy and super black.
Most of the time I struggle to find a gel liner that stays the same shade
once it has dried but this does. I also love that it doesn’t move once applied,
it’s definitely my favourite Illamasqua product right now.
What is your favourite application technique?
My favourite application technique would be applying foundation with a stippling brush
in small circular motions and gradually adding more of the foundation to
areas you want to highlight and softly blending on the other areas
of the face for a natural and soft finish.
