Beauty Spotlight: Pixiwoo

It’s no secret that here at Illamasqua we’re huge fans of the Pixiwoo sisters. It’s quite funny; we can think we know one of our products inside out and then they’ll show us a whole new way to use it. Earlier this week, we caught up with Sam, Nicola and their behind-the-scenes wonder woman Stacey. We’ll be punctuating our secrets from the girls with highlights from their ever-popular YouTube channel

Girls

First port of call was, of course, to get to the bottom of which product they rate the most. Sam has admitted in the past that she will go through phases of loving our Skin Base foundation, and Nicola loves our Naked Rose Powder Blusher so much that she even wore it on her wedding day. But when it really comes down to it? “They love Cream Pigment in Hollow“, Stacey tells us. “It’s the perfect colour to use when contouring.” A taupe shade with grey undertones, it’s designed to mimic the natural shadows of the face. We’ve noticed lots of bloggers using Samantha’s Real Techniques Stippling Brush with our Cream Pigments and Cream Blushers, too.

Next we wondered which part of the make-up application process was their favourite. Was it a smoky eye, perfecting a feline flick, lining a bold lip? But alas, the answer was skincare! “If you get the base right, the rest will fall into place,” they explained. Did you catch their Body Talk interview with the reigning skincare queen, Caroline Hirons? I imagine she’s had something to do with their skincare philosophy. If you haven’t seen it yet, it is an absolute must-watch. Another time-saving beauty secret that they swear by is keeping hair in check with leave-in masks and products that speed up drying time.

With everything from zig-zag liner to 20’s style pencil eyebrows under their belts, there isn’t anything that the girls haven’t tried their hand at. But which looks really resonate with them? Stacey explains that at heart, they’re chalk and cheese. “Sam’s favourite look is a grungy look; messy, smudgy eyes. Nic’s is a contrast to Sam’s; she loves a polished, 1950’s style glamour make-up.” (Which is your favourite Pixiwoo look to date? Tweet us @Illamasqua @Pixiwoo @NixiePixi.) But what are they missing and what would they make if they could create an Illamasqua product? “A bronzing range for very porcelain skin tones.”

And now for the big question. We’ve seen what they use from video to video, from new releases to cult classics, and we wanted to know – truthfully – their top 5 holy grail products. We’re in there, amidst some other beauty classics! Here they are in no particular order:

  1. Illamasqua Cream Pigment in Hollow
  2. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz
  3. MAC Cosmetics Studio Finish Concealer
  4. Yves Saint Laurent Mascara
  5. Chanel Bronze Universal

So there we have it – the secret formula to Pixiwoo perfection!
