1. How did you become interested in the world of nails?
I have always painted my toenails but never my fingernails. One day surfing the net I came across a nail polish blog and was amazed by what could be done with polish. My first attempts at nail art were dreadful so there followed many hours on YouTube!
2. What’s your number 1 Illamasqua nail varnish and why?
This one is easy. Facet. It’s my all time favourite of all the brands not just Illamasqua – so unique, great coverage and so easy to wear on it’s own or as a base for nail art.
3. Nail Varnish aside, what do you do to take care of your nails?
Moisturising is the key to good nails. I use rich handceam and cuticle oil at night and a lighter handcream during the day. Everytime my hands have been in water I use it and apply cuticle oil at least four times a day.
4. If you could create a new Illamasqua nail varnish what would it be like and why?
Gosh who wouldn’t like to create a new Illamasqua polish?! Mine would be a navy crème polish, two coater with a very subtle shimmer. That would be my perfect polish!
5. What are your top 3 nail tips to create a perfect nail art/ manicure?
The perfect manicure for me starts with careful filing with a glass nail file. These are very fine and don’t split the nail. I lightly file mine every couple of days to keep the edges smooth and healthy. Clean up is so important for a crisp cuticle line, I use pure acetone. Finish off with a good topcoat to seal in the design and use handcream to prevent dryness from the acetone.
6. What do you love most about Illamasqua nail varnishes?
I love Illamasqua nail polish for the range of their colour palette from the delicate Raindrops to the vibrant Collide and rich red of Throb. The formulae are perfect and the detachable cap makes using them a treat. In fact there is nothing to not love!
