Beauty Spotlight: Featuring Lynsey Mckenzie

Today we are very excited to be joined by the lovely Lynsey who you may recognise as @lynzmua on Instagram. Lynsey has created many gorgeous make-up looks using Illamasqua and therefore we wanted to find out a bit more about her favourite products as well as some top beauty tips. Lynsey very kindly agreed to answer our questions, so I will pass over to her …

1. What’s your number 1 Illamasqua product and why?
That’s a very hard question for me! It’d have to be a toss up between the Skin Base Foundation (my go to foundation for clients and myself!) and the Brow Cake in Gaze, no product out there can create super defined and detailed brows like that can!

Lynsey created this look using Skin Base Foundation, Powder Blusher in Thrust and Precision Gel Liner
2. How do you get inspiration for your looks?
I get inspired by all the amazing makeup artists, photographers and fashion accounts that I follow on Instagram and Tumblr, social media platforms such as these can create an ever changing feed of inspiration that can be customised to your own likes and dislikes.

3. Make-up aside, what do you do to take care of your hair, skin and body?
My hair is in a sorry state from wearing extensions for so long so I’m treating it to almond oil and coconut oil treatments twice a week which seems to be healing it! For my acne prone skin I use a tea tree scrub from Superdrug every morning to thoroughly cleanse my face and give a lovely smooth surface to apply my makeup to, and I use Nivea Regenerating Night Cream to keep my face hydrated all night, leading to less redness and bags in the morning. To keep the rest of my skin soft I use Palmers Cocoa Butter (I can’t resist the smell!)

4. If you could pick 5 Illamasqua products to use over and over again what would they be?
That would have to be Skin Base Foundation, Brow Cake in Gaze, Precision Gel Liner, SOPHIE Blush and Obsidian Powder Eye Shadow. Easy!

Here Lynsey using Sealing Gel mixed with Eye Brow Cake in Gaze to define her brows.
5. As you know Illamasqua products are known to have multiple uses, what is your favourite Illamasqua product to use for more than one part of your make-up?
At the moment I’m loving using the cream pigments on my lips, Androgen is the perfect coral colour and is creamy yet has awesome longevity. I also use Obsidian Powder Eye Shadow to add depth to my brows, using more than one colour makes them looks less ‘blocky’ and more natural.

6. If you could create a new Illamasqua product what would it be and why?
I would have to create my own pair of lashes, I never find any that I can wear alone and are ‘perfect’, I have to use two different types to get the effect I want! A strong defined top layer with a wispy natural under layer, extending on the outer edges, a thin, invisible band and natural hairs. I would call them the ‘Lure’ Lash, one bat of these and you could lure anyone in 😉 (oh how cheesy!)
