Beauty Spotlight: Featuring Sheenie from Just Nice Things

Today in the Beauty Spotlight is Sheenie from Just Nice Things. Sheenie owns a lot of Illamasqua products, so we wanted to find out from her exactly which Illamasqua products she loves the most! Therefore we have asked Sheenie a series of questions delving into her favourite products and even a product she would love to see from Illamasqua in the future, so now its over to Sheenie…

What’s your number 1 Illamasqua product and why?

I can’t tear myself away from Skin Base. It’s my go-to foundation regardless of how many other brands I use for a change. I make sure I have a couple of bottles in storage so I’m never at a loose end. I love how it feels on my skin; it melts straight away. I always apply it with my fingers because I get a flawless finish. It’s more than a foundation, it truly is like wearing your skin only it’s perfect. The number of times I’ve been complimented on wearing Skin Base is hard to count on both hands. That’s how good it is!

If you could create a look with purely Illamasqua products what would you choose?

One look I’ve been wearing a lot is red eyes, inspired by Rose’s Lady Raven Halloween Make-Up look video. I start with the eyes first with Liquid Metal in Resolute for a base, followed by Powder Eye Shadow Demon all over the lids, Obsidian smoked out along the upper lash line and Zeitgeist Pure Pigment blended along the crease and the outer corners before piling on some Berber on the lids and Beguile in the inner corners…and not forgetting the Precision Gel Liner. Then it’s Skin Base and Hydra Veil for my face with Skin Base Lift for under the eyes followed by Powder Blusher Duo in Beg/Bronzerella with the amazing Blush Up brush for contouring and blush before dabbing Velvet Blusher in Sleek on the apples of my cheeks and Gleam in Aurora as a highlighter. Finally I paint my lips with Sangers, my absolute favourite lipstick from Illamasqua. It sounds like a risky combination but it works, and that’s the beauty with Illamasqua – there are no rules and no barriers.

Make-up aside, what do you do to take care of hair, skin and body?

I’ve been pretty good at eating well but recently I upped the ante and cut out fizzy drinks and replaced with water, waved goodbye to cakes, introduced more fish, vegetables and fruit into my diet and substituted pasta and rice for couscous. I have also started running so maintaining a healthy and nutritional diet is valuable for my energy levels particularly when there is a 59-year-old lady in my running group who always beats me!  I look after my skin by thoroughly cleansing and moisturising it every day as well as exfoliating a couple of times a week (no matter how tired I am) but I don’t bother with facials much. I’m pretty lucky to not need them. My hair saviour is Jamaican black castor oil which not only strengthens and thickens hair but also conditions beautifully in between salon visits.

If you could create a new Illamasqua product what would it be and why?

I am yearning for a Precision Liner in bright turquoise – hnnnnggh! Illamasqua’s Precision Liners are incredibly pigmented, so easy to use and turquoise as an eye liner would look striking. There is nothing out there on the market that replicates my vision of a turquoise liner so remember, when that Precision Liner launches (I’m waiting, Illamasqua…), you read about the idea of it right here.

If you could pick 5 Illamasqua products to use over and over again what would they be?

Skin Base in shade 12 and Hydra Veil are a match made in heaven – I can’t go with one and not the other too.  I also find myself reaching for Velvet Blusher in Sleek, the velvet blusher as it’s so convenient to use every day and gives a natural flush of colour to the cheeks and Precision Liner in Abyss, my favourite black liquid liner because application with it is fool-proof when I’m in a hurry. I recently rekindled my affair with Sangers lipstick. I had forgotten how flattering and vibrantly red this creamy lippy is.

Illamasqua products are known to have multiple uses, what is your favourite Illamasqua product to use for more than one part of your make-up?

When you shamelessly own pretty much every product Illamasqua has in its entire range (including the limited edition ones), the possibility of using a product for more than one purpose fails on you. Having said I do find the Precision Gel Liner is fantastic for filling in my brows and giving definition but without looking like it’s caked on.

I just wanted to add a quick picture to the end of this post because I love the make-up look Sheenie created with our Reflections Palette so I thought you would all like to see it too…
