Beauty Spotlight: Featuring Leanne from DoNotRefreeze

In the beauty spotlight this week is Leanne from Do Not Refreeze. Leanne is the person to go to for top beauty tips and amazing nail art! Therefore we wanted to find out exactly what Leanne’s top Illamasqua products are and how she wears them. So over to Leanne …

What’s your number 1 Illamasqua product and why?

Yeah that’s great, start with the hardest one! Am I allowed to pick something discontinued? If so, then Powder Blush in Rumour was my ultimate makeup soulmate. It’s hard to find the perfect shade for bronzing and contouring on pasty pale skin like mine, but Rumour was The One. My number one current product is probably Gleam in Aurora.

If you could create a look with purely Illamasqua products what would you choose?

Half the time, I do create looks with purely Illamasqua products! Naturally I would start with my favourite foundation, Skin Base, over a base of Hydra Veil. A smudgy, sexy metallic smoky eye would be created with the Reflection Palette, Colouring Pencil in S.O.P.H.I.E and Masquara. Cheeks would be contoured with Cream Pigment in Hollow, a quick flush to the apples of the cheeks with Powder Blush in Naked Rose and a highlight on the high points of the face with Gleam in Aurora. If it’s a ‘normal’ day, I’ll go for Lipstick in Wanton or new #Creators Sheer Lipgloss in Culminate on the lips, but if I’m going somewhere I might spice it up with Lipstick in ESP and Intense Lipgloss in Boost.

Make-up aside, what do you do to take care of hair, skin and body?

I am a slave to coconut oil as a hair treatment – I colour my hair so an intensive moisture hit like that stops it getting too dry. I have a strict skincare routine involving twice-daily cleansing, toning, serum-ing (yes, that’s a word!) and moisturising, plus twice-weekly masks or exfoliation. I’m very good at sticking to that, but I’m a bit lazier when it comes to the body. I use a body scrub once or twice a week, pumice my feet weekly (I walk a LOT!) and slather on the body butter as often as I can be bothered. Shh!

If you could create a new Illamasqua product what would it be and why?

If you’d have asked me this a while ago, I would have said ‘a white speckled polish in a clear base’, but clearly you can read my mind since you’ve already answered that prayer with Blizzard! Since my favourite product is Gleam in Aurora, I’d probably create a new shade of that. Something very similar to the old Illuminator in Poised – an icy cool toned pink, I’d name it Freeze! Or a deep, golden bronze shade of Precision Ink; that would be called Incinerate.

If you could pick 5 Illamasqua products to use over and over again what would they be?

This is not fair! Gleam in Aurora, Skin Base foundation, Cream Pigment in Hollow, Precision Ink in Wisdom and perhaps the Complement Palette. I haven’t even started on my favourite Nail Varnish shades – can I pretty please pick 5 of those as well?! Collide, Nomad, Gamma, Cameo and Prism.

Illamasqua products are known to have multiple uses, what is your favourite Illamasqua product to use for more than one part of your make-up?

The obvious choices are Cream Blushes used on the lips as well as cheeks, which is a great simple way to tie your look together. I also like using the Precision Inks as nail art pens as they’re so pigmented and easy to control. If you try this, make sure you’re very light with your topcoat so you don’t smudge your design.
