When it comes to your base, the perfect blush can be just the thing to take you from average to glowing. Today, I’m going to help you to choose the perfect Illamasqua blusher and – more to the point – explain how to get the most out of it.
You want… a healthy, dewy glow
A soft, rich consistency, our Cream Blushers are perfect to apply with fingers or a brush. David Horne, our Head of New Product Development, likes to use Zygomatic to contour the cheek, then add the colour of choice merely to the apples of the cheeks. The finish is dewy so wear alone for a healthy glow or finish with setting powder for a matte finish. My favourites are Dixie – a bright coral – and Promise – a fresh, cool pink. Don’t forget that these double up as lip colours if you want to match the tone of lips and cheeks.
You want… ease of application
This clever little two-in-one formula will be just the thing for those of you who want the ease of a cream with the longevity of a powder. Apply with fingers or a Blusher Brush for a blendable, buildable coverage. Gently brush with circular motions for a wash of colour or pat firmly for a more prominent finish.
You want… blusher that stays put for the long haul
Our Powder Blushers are all about the pigment. Whether it’s a long day at work you’re thinking of or a night out that isn’t going to finish till the early hours, this will be the key to long-lasting make-up. First of all, decide which kind of look you’d like. Super chiselled cheeks? You’ll need our Blush-Up brush (here’s a tutorial for tips on how to use it). Prefer more of a soft, pretty flush? Break the mould and try our Powder Brush. This is easier than lugging a blusher and a powder brush around separately, plus it will give you more of a soft, pretty flush rather than dolly precision. For me, there’s no nicer shade than Hussy; the perfect mix between pink and coral, it will suit a multitude of lipsticks beautifully.
Et voila – your make-up is good to go! What did you think of this piece? Did I mention your favourite blusher? Tweet me @Illamasqua, show me a photo on Instagram #Illamasqua or post on our Facebook wall. I’d love to hear your thoughts. If there’s anything in particular you want to see a piece on then feel free to let me know.
Until next time! Rose x
