On Wednesday I was excited to find out Illamasqua had been personally asked by Azealia Banks’ team to create her make-up that evening for Summer Ball, held at the Serpentine Gallery at Hyde Park. Illamasqua’s Make-up Artist, Daniel Sallstrom, created the looks for her on the day.
Azealia Banks is a singer/rapper/lyricist from Harlem and has been my favourite artist ever since I heard her single “212”.
Later that day my boss (Social Media Manager Alex Cummins) asked me to assist Daniel. Apart from the fact that I was dressed in converse and a baggy tee, I was extremely excited that I might get the chance to meet Azealia.
We headed to (couture fashion designer) Sorapol’s house where I met Sorapol and Daniel Lismore, with Azealia arriving ten minutes later . We then set off to the Serpentine Gallery and Daniel began Azealia’s make-up…
Here is what he used and how you can re-create her look. To begin with Daniel used Skin Base 17 and then applied Skin Base 18 as a contour shade and Skin Base 14 as a highlight. He applied Powder Eye Shadow in Wolf in the eye sockets, blended out with Powder Eye Shadow in Obsidian and he pressed on Pure Pigment in Incite to add a touch of glamour.
For the next look, Daniel wanted to create a feline look with her beautiful butterfly inspired outfit designed by Sorapol. Daniel added Powder Eye Shadow in Vapour and Hype to the eyes for a burst of colour and applied Precision Ink in Scribe to the inner corner of the eyes. he also added a touch of Pure Pigment in Breathe to give Azealia some sparkle.
After she was ready we headed out to watch her performance! Here is her video for “212” which was one of the songs she performed on the night.
She was amazing to watch live and it was such a great way to spend my last week at work!
