Vicky McClure plays muse to Illamasqua

We’re delighted to reveal that cutting-edge British actress and one of the UK’s hottest and most unique talents, Vicky McClure, is Illamasqua’s new leading lady.

The ‘This is England’ star brings the concept of the alter ego to life in three new beautiful short films commissioned specially by Illamasqua – the first of which, ‘Poem’, launches today. Watch here, as she transforms herself into her alter ego through the art of making-up.

Vicky’s portrayal of skinhead and pacifist, Lol, in Shane Meadows’ multi award-winning screenplay ‘This is England’, resonated perfectly with two themes which lie at the heart of Illamasqua; self-expression and cultural tolerance.

“In the film Lol quite simply doesn’t see colour and for us as a brand this is so important. …. Wearing make-up makes others pre-judge you, often wrongly – especially if you are a man. We loved the way Vicky acted a role that smashed these pre-conceptions. For that she is our muse.”   Julian Kynaston, Illamasqua Founder

Working with the expertise of Spob, Illamasqua’s Head of Professional Development who created all the looks for the film, Vicky couldn’t wait to unleash her darker side for Illamasqua.

“What I love about Illamasqua is that there is a bigger story and a bigger attraction… I was amazed by the products’ staying power, how easy they were to apply, how the colours are so vibrant and I love the packaging. I hope Illamasqua gets the attention it deserves.”  Vicky McClure, Leading British Actress

Watch ‘Poem’ now and check out Vicky’s stellar performance in Channel 4’s 'This is England ’86' which starts on Tuesday 7th September.
