Why Alex Box was the golden girl of Myer’s SS 2010/11 Fashion Parade
A major event in Sydney’s fashion calendar, Myer’s highly anticipated Spring/Summer 2010/11 catwalk show brought together some fabulous pieces from some top designers.
We were thrilled when Myer selected Illamasqua to provide the make-up and nail art for the entire show. The team, headed up by Creative Director, Alex Box, consisted of 23 make-up artists, 7 nail artists, and a horde of hair stylists, so the atmosphere backstage was electric. And with more that 75 models to prepare, more than a little crazy!
The show was split into two sections – an avant-garde opening, which featured a ‘Dripping With Gold’ theme, followed by a showcase of Ready to Wear designs. Its stars, Myer’s spokesmodels Jennifer Hawkins, Jess Hart and Kris Smith, all looked incredible, and Jess's make-up was all Illamasqua!
Alex’s stunning Siren-inspired looks opened the show with a bang, as models layered in gold leaf and glitter sashayed down the catwalk in this season’s most beautiful eveningwear designs.
The Ready to Wear looks that followed although slightly less golden were certainly no less breathtaking. Head Make-up Artist Christabel Draffin, of makeupmole.com, and the team used a mixture of neutrals and browns in shades of caramel, chocolate, mocha and toffee to create incredibly sculpted, tailored finish that showed off the garments to stunning effect.
The event, which was attended by supermodel and legendary supermodel, Jerry Hall as well as an array of Australian celebrities, was a huge success and left us in no doubt – Illamasqua is definitely on Sydney’s style radar.
Junior Brand Manager, Alex Cummins, captured all of the backstage preparation on film, including interviews with Alex in action. Feast your eyes on it here.
